About this product
Vinyl LP pressing. The Drums released the critically acclaimed Abysmal Thoughts in 2017, marking the band's first as a solo project from Jonny Pierce. Two years later, The Drums present their tremendous, self-care focused fifth LP Brutalism, quite possibly the best collection of songs in the band's ten-year career. Like Pierce, Brutalism is a bicoastal record - written and recorded between Upstate New York and a studio in Stinson Beach. Following a painful divorce and an incredibly difficult stint living solely in Los Angeles, Pierce decided it was time to face his demons, and the making of this record is a part of that process. While he focused on his mental health, the making of Brutalism became an extension of self-care for Pierce, and makes for some of his most honest and relatable music to date. Album Tracks 1. Pretty Cloud 2. Body Chemistry 3. 626 Bedford Avenue 4. Brutalism 5. Loner 1. I Wanna Go Back 2. Kiss It Away 3. Nervous 4. Blip of Joy 5. Try

Vinyl LP pressing includes digital download. With The Drums' new Abysmal Thoughts, band founder Jonny Pierce is making the exact album he has always held in his heart. Of course, this is The Drums, so that heart is broken-but there's beauty and even bliss in this kind of heartbreak, as well as that special kind of glorious delirium that comes from taking everything life can throw at you and still walking away triumphant. Abysmal Thoughts finds Pierce back in full control of The Drums, not just writing all the songs himself but playing every instrument and bringing his exact personal vision to life. Not coincidentally, it is some of the most revelatory work he's ever done. Album Tracks 1. Mirror 4 04 2. I'll Fight for Your Life 3 50 3. Blood Under My Belt 3 48 4. Heart Basel 4 42 1. Vinyl LP pressing. In a time of polarized politics and murky waters; Idles and bands like them are needed to remind people that it's ok to dance and laugh and sing in the face of adversity. Bristol's finest post-punk polemics Idles have been promising to do great things for some time now, and with their 2017 debut album Brutalism they absolutely fulfilled that promise, and a furious promise at that. Politically charged, refreshingly confrontational and infectiously volatile, Idles are a band like no other. Bringing the unsettling reality of the world we live in into their frantic assault on the senses, Brutalism perfectly encapsulates the intensity of their live sound.
