About This Item

Two CDs. Digitally remastered and expanded edition of the classic 1970 album by the legendary Family. Featuring an additional 16 bonus tracks drawn from singles and BBC radio sessions. Featuring vocalist Roger Chapman, guitarist John 'Charlie' Whitney, drummer Rob Townsend, bassist and violinist John Weider and multi-instrumentalist John 'Poli' Palmer on vibes, keyboards and flute, Anyway comprised a side of live recordings made at The Fairfield Hall in Croydon in July 1970 and a side of studio tracks recorded at Olympic Studios in the late summer. Family was always a fine live act, and the performances of songs such as 'Good News Bad News', 'Holding the Compass' and 'Strange Band' showed the band at the peak of their powers on stage. The album's studio tracks were equally fine, with 'Part of the Load', 'Anyway' and 'Lives and Ladies' being fine examples of the diversity of the band's music. Released in November 1970, the album reached number seven on the UK chart and continued The Family's run of successful albums. Album Tracks 1. Good News, Bad News 2. Willow Tree 3. Holding the Compass 4. Strange Band 5. Part of the Load 6. Anyway 7. Normans 8. Lives and Ladies 9. Strange Band (Studio Version) 10. The Weavers Answer (1970 Single Version) 11. Hung Up Down (1970 Single Version) 12. Normans (American LP Edited Version) 1. Good News, Bad News 2. Lives and Ladies 3. Holding the Compass 4. Drowned in Wine 5. Wheels 6. Processions / No Mules Fool 7. Holding the Compass 8. Lives and Ladies 9. Strange Band 10. The Weaver's Answer 11. Blow By Blow
