One of the greatest doo-wop groups of all time, The Five Satins were formed in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1955. Led by lead singer and songwriter Fred Parris, The Five Satins are best known best known for the doo wop classic InchIn The Still Of The Night,Inch a song Parris had written in the basement of a local church in New Haven. The single was released on Standord Records in the spring of 1956. By the end of the year, it had been leased to Ember and became a huge hit, peaking at number three on the R&B charts and number 25 on the pop charts. Featured here is one of their rarest singles, InchThe TimeInch b/w InchBaby Face, Inch originally recorded in the late 1950s for the Standord tag. It contains the unreleased version of the InchThe TimeInch on the A-side which they later re-recorded - adding strings and changing the tempo a bit, and that version was released in 1960 on Ember Records.
