About this product

Last album Rolling Blackouts became a natural end chapter for The Go! Team with members splintering off into different musical projects, get married, teach, experience real life. Bandleader Parton took the opportunity to return to the working methods he'd used at the origins of the band - crate digging, trying to nail a feeling, writing and recording the album by himself. Unlike debut album 'Thunder, Lightning, Strike' though, The Scene Between is an album about singing - about pushing the melodic side of The Go! Team sound. Parton elaborates 'I wanted to make an album driven by melody and song writing because catchiness is the hardest thing you can do. Brill Building hooks but permeated with a kind of wobbly VHS feel'. Parton had four rules before starting melody would guide the song, samples would be treated as an instrument rather than a basis for the song, the production would vary across the song like flipping the dial on a radio and the singers must all be people he'd never previously heard of. Matching the song to the right voice wherever that voice was in the World, an outreach programme for bedroom core DIY artists. The Scene Between, begun as a studio only project with the live version of The Go! Team still on hibernation, sees Parton nail the feelings like never before. Album Tracks 1. What D'you Say? 2. The Scene Between 3. Waking the Jetstream 4. Rolodex the Seasons 5. Blowtorch 6. Did You Know? 7. Gaffa Tape Bikini 8. Catch Me on the Rebound 9. The Floating Felt Tip 10. Her Last Wave 11. The Art of Getting By (Song for Heaven's Gate) 12. Reason Left to Destroy

The Go! Team - Semicircle - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Brightons Go! Team return with new single Semicircle Song out on 1 December on long term tag home Memphis Industries. Semicircle Song is taken from The Go! Teams new album SEMICIRCLE due 19 January. These are dark and difficult times. We don't need some chancer with an acoustic guitar and a series of concerned hashtags to tell us that. What we need is a band to believe in, who stand for something other than naked careerism, who give us a rock to cling to on stormy days. A band who still have faith in the power of pop music to transform the world, who dream in technicolour, who see beauty in the little things, who shun tepid perfection, who rejoice in the mistakes and the chance encounters that lead us somewhere new. Who remind us what it was like to be young and naive and idealistic and in love. Who throw everything into the pot to create music that is joyfully, effervescently alive. Now more than ever, we need The Go! Team. It's no secret that The Go! Team is the brainchild of one man, Brighton-based melody obsessive Ian Parton. But it's membership has never been exclusive at one time or another, The Go! Team has included on it's squad-sheet everyone from Deerhoof to Chuck D to a legion of undiscovered Soundcloud singers. Unlike the groups previous album, 2015s The Scene Between which was essentially a solo project, following the dissolution of the previous Go! Team line-up Ian began work on their fifth album SEMICIRCLE with the vital input of current live band players Simone Odaranile (drums), Angela Maki Won-Yin Mak (vocals and guitar) and original Team members Sam Dook (guitar) and Ninja (irrepressible rapping). Album Tracks 1. Mayday 2. Chain Link Fence 3. Semicircle Song 4. Hey! 5. The Answer's No - Now What's the Question? 6. Chico's Radical Decade 7. All the Way Live 8. If There's One Thing You Should Know 9. Tangerine / Satsuma / Clemen

The Go! Team, band leader Ian Parton, MC / rapper Ninja, guitarist / vocalist Nia Radical, bass player Adam and multi instrumentalist Sam Dook, have taken scissors to the technique, slamming noise rock into soda fountain soul and jump ready rhymes. It's a school's out, Friday free for all in the me frequency. The album features contributions from Detroit rapper IndigoYag (Divebomb), Benin's The Star Feminine Band (Look Away, Look Away and The Me Frequency), Hilarie Bratset (drummer in Apples in Stereo) as well as Tokyo duo Lucie Too, French artists Tapeworms and Freschard, Indian singer Neha Hatwar and Brooklyn rapper Nitty Scott.Look Away, Look AwayDivebombGetting To Know (All The Ways We're Wrong For Each Other)Stay and Ask Me In a Different WayThe Me FrequencyWhammy-OBut We Keep On TryingSock It To MeGoing NowhereGeminiTrain SongBaby Album Tracks 1.
