The Hands - Synesthesia - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Black Hands - Electric Premier Theatre [COMPACT DISCS] UK - Import date 06/21/2019

2011 from Andrew Curtis-Brignell AKA Caina. His unique vision has been described as a mix of Burzum, Mogwai and the Red House Painters, or as if 4AD, Mute, or Matador had released a black metal album. Hands That Pluck is Caina's most ambitious work to date. Epic, progressive and visceral, it is a culmination of years spent developing an idiosyncratic sound. Assisting Curtis-Brignell on the album are three guest vocalists Lord Imperial from cult black metal band Krieg, Rennie Resmini of hardcore group Starkweather and Chris Ross of Blood Revolt / Revenge / Axis of Advance fame. Though Hands That Pluck is priced as a single CD, it includes a bonus disc titled Old Songs, New Chords featuring reinterpretations of four classic Caina tracks, re-mastered versions of the originals, and a Nico cover. Album Tracks 1. Profane Inheritors 2. Murrain 3. Hands That Pluck 4. The Sea of Grief Has No Shores 5. Callus and Cicatrix 6. Somnium Ignis 7. Haruspication 8. I Know Thee of Old 9. Ninety-Three 1. 2023 . Inspired by month-long songwriting class Duffy taught in the summer of 2021, they re-discovered, with newfound clarity, the generative capacity of embracing the unknown, and how essential collaboration and improvisation are for accessing the indescribable. Working with Luke Temple (Here We Go Magic, Art Feynman) and Philip Weinrobe (Adrienne Lenker, Cass McCombs), Duffy surrendered to the present moment, trusting that whatever sounds and words emerged were meant to emerge. With additional production, engineering and arranging from Jeremy Harris, Duffy created something which, in their words, Inchturned out nothing like I'd imagined it would.Inch The result of this collective experiment, born equally from play and intention, is a radical gift for listeners proof that our most vital processes, creation and destruction, are exquisitely entangled. The unanswerable and untenable suffering of experience is the fact of perpetual loss. And, yet, there is precious, vivid magic created by this condition. In Sugar the Bruise, grief folds in on itself and becomes laughter; language fades away into sonic expanses of the inexpressible; melodies melt into cacophonies; love songs surrender to loss; historic violence is supplanted by the disks of sunlight. Album Tracks 1. Something Wrong 2. Gift of the Human Curse 3. Andy in Stereo 4. Private Life 5. Book on How to Change, Pt. 3 6. Bust of Nefertiti
