About This Item

The Last Man on Earth is a post-apocalyptic science fiction horror film and stars Vincent Price and Franca Bettoia. It is 1968, and Dr. Robert Morgan (Vincent Price) lives in a world where everyone else has been infected by a plague that has turned them into undead, vampire creatures that cannot stand sunlight. They also fear mirrors, and are repelled by garlic. The creatures would kill Morgan if they could, but they are weak and unintelligent. Morgan starts each day the same, waking up and gathering his weapons to kill as many vampires as he can, and burning their bodies so they cannot come back to life. Morgan's wife and daughter had succumbed to the plague, but he did not take the wife's body to the public burn pit to dispose of her. Instead, he brought his wife's body home and she attacked him. This incident made him aware of the fact that he must kill the plague victims with a wooden stake. Morgan spots a woman, Ruth (Franca Bettoia) who runs from him, but Morgan convinces her to return to his home. The woman is infected with the plague and tells Morgan that the vampires he has killed are still alive. While Ruth is asleep, Morgan transfuses his own blood into Ruth. She is immediately cured, and Morgan sees hope that together they can cure the rest of the infected people who have come back to life. But those undead are now coming for Morgan. Can he stave them off or is he going to lose his own life? A terrific horror sci-fi starring the great Vincent Price. (86 minutes - 1964 - Black & White - 16 9 (Widescreen)
