Hailing from Jersey City, New Jersey, The Manhattans originally formed in 1962 and released their first single InchFor the Very First Time,Inch in 1964. With various members of the group handling the writing chores, they scored many chart successes for the remainder of the 1960's. The Manhattans continued recording throughout the 1970's with Gerald Alston replacing George Smith on lead vocals due to an illness Smith incurred from a bad fall. In 1976 the new lineup struck gold with InchKiss And Say Goodbye,Inch written by group member Winfred InchBlueInch Lovett, which rose to the #1 position on both the US R&B and pop charts. For their 30th reunion in 1995, original members Blue Lovett and Gerald Alston reformed the group and they were featured in two PBS specials with the new lineup. Here the group performs their classic 1981 hit, InchJust One Moment Away.Inch Also included is an exclusive edited version.

One of the most popular American R&B vocal groups of all time, The Manhattans formed in 1962 and have had a string of hit records spanning four decades. Original member Blue Lovett left the group in 1990 due to health problems but decided to return to the music scene with his own Manhattans in 1995, bringing back lead singer Gerald Alston. With the addition of Troy May and David Tyson, brother of The Temptations' Ron Tyson, the group is now a quartet. In 2001 the group released the fine album “Even Now” which is presented here in its entirety. In 2008 the group signed to the legendary Swamp Dogg’s S.D.E.G. tag and, as an added bonus, included here are bonus cuts from their first recording with the new tag from 2008 – “Men Cry Too” and three mixes of “Shorty,” featuring rapper Screechy Dan. All selections have been newly remastered.
