The McGuire Sisters were one of the most popular of the many female vocal groups who came to prominence in the early 50s and enjoyed huge success through the next few years on both sides of the Atlantic. Modelled initially on the Andrews Sisters, the three sisters from Ohio, Christine, Dorothy and Phyllis, learnt to sing together in the church where their mother was a minister, and got their break via the famed Arthur Godfrey Talent Show. They had their first hits in 1954, going on to rack up over 40 Billboard and Cash Box chart entries through to 1962, with several making the UK charts. This great value 54-track 2-CD set, with extensive booklet notes and discographical and chart information, includes all those hits, plus a selection of their other popular A & B sides released on the Coral tag during that time. It naturally includes their landmark No. 1 hits InchSincerelyInch and InchSugartimeInch. It's a collection that not only provides a fine showcase for their distinctive talents, but also captures the spirit of the times, as traditional pop music vied for position with the emerging power of rock 'n' roll in the charts.
