The Mekons - Honky Tonkin - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This product is an authorized manufactured on demand CD-R

After touring on the back of their twisted non-retrospective InchPunk RockInch in 2004, The Mekons picked up their instruments and lost themselves far beyond the beaten path in the wilds of the English countryside. Removed from the restraints of conventional studio technology, they navigate an undulating sonic landscape of lavish melodies, mantric chants, and shimmering acoustic experimentation. This is their first new material in five years since 2002's critically acclaimed InchOOOH!Inch Look for them on tour this fall.

Welcome reissue for this 1995 recording from vocalist/pianist Diz Watson and his Doormen featuring Big Jay McNeely on saxophone. The Doormen were not just playing recycled R&B, Diz was a connoisseur of the exotic. He had absorbed the essence of New Orleans, and Professor Longhair in particular, and was involved in the transmission of a compelling musical tradition. The music swung, rolled and rocked like crazy. After being unavailable for many years, this will be welcomed by fans of Jump Blues, Piano Boogie and New Orleans R&B. Ace. 2009.
