Directed by Robert Redford, The Milagro Bean Field War features an Hispanic community faced with extinction when their poor farming community is going to be replaced with a wealthy condominium community and golf course. When one young farmer decides to use the water forbidden by law to plant beans, he creates a public uprising that eventually is mayhem for the local sheriff et al. Central to this delightful fairy tail is an elderly man with a wandering memory who speaks to his imaginary friend, an angel in a big Mexican hat. All's well that ends well in this wonderful fairy tale film with a simple music score you'll long remember.

As a fan of Robert Redford, I is my goal to complete my library of all his movies...acting directing, early T.V. episodes. This DVD I purchased made a wonderful addition to my collection!

You really have to be into "subtle" comedy to appreciate this. A great tragi-comedy.
