The once beautiful and rich Planet Kepler is now dry and near death, after it's precocious Callaro plant was exploited to extinction by Earthers because the Callaro plant was known throughout the galaxy as a source of super energy. It's still 2201 - only a month since farewell Yamato ends. The overhauled battleship clashes with The Dark Empire, on a mission to save Queen Stasha and Kodai's brother Mamoru, on the runaway planet Iscandar. But it's Stasha who saves the Yamato in a typicallly Japanese act of sacrifice for the greater good.
