About this product
The Mountain Goats is the long-running project of the prolific John Darnielle. After building a cult following throughout the '90s with a stream of boombox-recorded releases Darnielle signed to 4AD in 2002. It marked a major shift for the first time, he embraced the studio as a creative tool. Between 2002 and 2009, 4AD released six Mountain Goats albums, the band is still active today and are on their 22nd . It's a mark of Darnielle's extraordinary fertility that, of the 800-plus songs he has recorded, only a handful directly concern his own life experience; The Sunset Tree's 13 tracks, written after Darnielle's stepfather passed away in December 2003, are the bulk of this small subsection. It's a collection of songs about the house that Darnielle grew up in and the people who lived there - an ensemble cast which includes Darnielle himself, an ex-girlfriend, his mother, stepfather, and sister; old friends and old enemies. InchI've put off writing about this stuff for years, Inch he said at the time of it's , Inchbecause I'm a little squeamish about milking my own trauma for art, and getting good songs rather than cry-fests from these experiences is a really excruciating process. And also because my stepfather was still alive.Inch Experienced as a whole rather than as a series of terrifying, frozen moments, The Sunset Tree is a redemptive rather than a remorseless record. As the liner notes say Inchyou are going to make it out of there alive.Inch

Sun was made for coming out, even though the night is long. Aperture - The Head and the Heart's sixth album and first since signing to Verve Forecast - is the affirming work of a band finding again it's shared footing, reaching unimagined levels of camaraderie and mutual risk as one. With every song fortified by the sense of beginning again, Aperture is The Head and the Heart's most vital and poignant album. Featuring tracks like the album's beautifully arcing opener InchAfter the Setting SunInch and the mighty anthem InchArrow,Inch Aperture is a stunning testament to the collaborative work of a band who decided to let in the light, return to their roots, and forge a new path, together as one.
bunny is the brand-new album from Ghost Orchard, aka 21-year-old Sam Hall. Following on from his 2016 album InchblissInch, which received great praise from The Fader and Tiny Mix Tapes. Ghost Orchard channels the experimental pop of Aphex Twin, Frank Ocean, and King Krule. InchbunnyInch is a celebration of love and everything in between. Written and recorded entirely by Sam in his bedroom over three years, it showcases a turbulent and beautiful time in his life and attempts to capture a glimpse into coming of age, the urgency of falling in love, and what comes after.1. witness2. swan3. bunny4. guess5. only6. carousel7. sheesh8. first time9. balloon10.
