About this product
Double vinyl LP pressing including . After touring the world as a member of the Postal Service in 2013, Laura Burhenn (The Mynabirds) took a year to get lost. She drove across the US twice, toured South Africa solo, made her first appearance in London (also solo), and trekked all over Europe with William Faulkner's words ringing in her ears InchYou cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.Inch Finally she found herself in Los Angeles with a suitcase of songs to fill a whole new album. Lovers Know, The Mynabirds' third full-length , was produced by Bradley Hanan Carter (Black English) and recorded over a yearlong period in Los Angeles, Joshua Tree, Nashville, and Auckland, New Zealand. It's definitely new territory for Burhenn, forging into 80s, 90s and futuristic soundscapes, recalling Kate Bush, Sinead O'Connor, The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine and even 90s hip hop and R&B. The album may be loaded with a fresh palette of new sounds (swarms of synthesizers, gauzy electric guitars, and electronic drums), but her brooding, unmistakable voice leads the way.

The Mynabirds - What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood [VINYL LP] date 04/27/2010

In place of the Zen meditations found on The Mynabirds' first album, GENERALS is filled with armies of stomps and claps, sweeping full spectrum orchestrations, and moments that range from intensely personal pleas to shout-out-loud protests with teeth.GENERALS is both a protest record and concept album. It's fueled by a full decade of Burhenn's political frustration and aimed at finding a revolutionary yet pacifist way in a world where, these days, it seems warring comes quick. Lyrically, GENERALS sings the voice of the collective frustration, then moves beyond that. The album's name comes from a Richard Avedon photo entitled InchGenerals of the Daughters of the American Revolution.Inch The lineage of women that have stood up to injustice for well over a hundred years, women like Sojourner Truth, Rosa Parks, Gloria Steinem, Naomi Wolf, they get their hands dirty. And Burhenn wanted to pay tribute to that.

Vinyl LP pressing. 2014 back-to-roots fourth album by Swedish husband and wife duo Mariam Wallentin and Andreas Werliin. In stripping back to their roots-drums and voice- they have discovered an unblinking directness, a taut muscularity honed from years of intensive live performance. Wild birds & Peacedrums have turned the screw. RHYTHM is the duo's unflinching vision, written, recorded and produced by the pair in their Stockholm studio. Unshakeable confidence in it's execution could only have been achieved by working in this way. The results prove that intuitive and primal interplay between voice and drums still has the power to leave one breathless, the power to make one move.
