About this product

After spending a couple of years creating the 1979 album, Eskimo, The Residents wanted a break from the long form abstract approach. They had written a lot of melody lines and thought it would be fun to use them all instead of selecting a few to develop. Short-attention-span ideas in music was new. Initially people didn't know what to make of it. Now it is recognized as one of their best

The Residents - Meet the Residents - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Reissue of The Residents' classic debut originally released on Ralph Records in 1974. The whole, bizarre Residents trip started here (at least officially)!

Low - Double Negative - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

To make Double Negative, Low reenlisted B.J. Burton, the quietly energetic and adventurous producer who has made records with James Blake, Sylvan Esso, and The Tallest Man on Earth in recent years while working as one of the go-to figures at Bon Iver's home studio, April Base. Burton recorded Low's last album, 2015's Ones and Sixes, at April Base, adding might to many of it's beats and squelch and frisson beneath many of it's melodies. This time, though, Sparhawk, Parker, and bassist Steve Garrington knew they wanted to go further with Burton and his palette of sounds, to see what someone who is, as Sparhawk puts it, Incha hip-hop guyInch could truly do to their music. Rather than obsessively write and rehearse at home in Duluth, MN, they would often head southeast to Eau Claire, WI, arriving with sketches and ideas that they would work on for days with Burton.

The Residents released of their third album, InchThe Third Reich 'n' RollInch in 1976. People have speculated whether the Residents were hinting that Rock 'n' Roll has brain-washed the youth of the world. When confronted with this possibility, they replied, InchWell, it may be true or it may not, but we just wanted to kick out the jams and get it on.Inch the InchThird Reich 'n' RollInch consists of two suites, InchSwastikas on ParadeInch and InchHitler was a Vegetarian.Inch Both are semi-phonetic interpretations of top forty hits from the sixties. InchOur rootsInch, say the Residents, a bright orange carrot clutched lovingly in their hands.
