The Shipping News - DVD

After tragedy strikes, Quoyle (Spacey) moves with his daughter from upstate New York to his ancestral Newfoundland home. Quoyle begins a job at the local newspaper and a develops a romance with a woman (Moore) who lives with her own demons. The Shipping News is a moving tale of generational rebirth.

A story of love, loss, and redemption - Downeast dives into the often ignored seedy underbelly of Maine. The film combines crime, revenge, and the hope for a new life.

Industrialist Cornelis van Doorn (Kees Brusse) got so filthy rich because he wasted nothing... as demonstrated by how he turned the animal hormone waste from his slaughterhouses into a side business of birth control pills. The time came, though, when he had to choose a successor from amongst his kids, legitimate or otherwise-and the only competent candidate (Rudolf Lucieer) was cursed with ethics. Sexy satire co-stars Andrea Domburg, Hugo Metsers, Sonja Barend. 107 min.
