The Shirelles - Lost & Found - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

For a brief window from 1960 to 1964, The Shirelles were the dominant female vocal group, paving the way for even bigger groups like the Supremes. This 10-track recording encompasses all of their original mega hits!

2009 installment in this series that restores the original Scepter and Pricewise vinyl albums by The Shirelles, in the same running order as issued plus bonus non-album flipsides. This brings together two highly acclaimed, and very rare, albums that came out on Scepter's budget tag, Pricewise, during a time that the group was in litigation with the company and refused to record any new songs. The Shirelles were the door openers for the girl group sound of the early '60s. Their strongest sides stand alongside the best of anything that splendid genre has to offer. Exquisitely remastered - and in stereo where stereo tapes still exist - this CD provides the definitive Shirelles collection for anyone who wants something more than the umpteenth rehash of their Greatest Hits. 23 tracks. Ace.

With their sweet, polished harmonies, cat-eye makeup and beehive hairdos, The Ronettes added a tough, New York street flavor to the girl group model of the early 60s. Spector originally employed them as backup singers for other Philles artists, but when their first single InchBe My BabyInch became an international sensation in late 63, they quickly became Philles leading group.
