It's gross of $347 million was seen by Sony as a disappointment, which Box Office Mojo labelled as Inchan unprecedented drop for a closely-timed family sequelInch and attributed to the negative reception of the first film and to the strong competition coming from Despicable Me 2, another family film. A reboot is in the works, titled Smurfs The Lost Village and is scheduled to be released on March 31, 2017.
