The Soft Pink Truth - Was It Ever Real? - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Hot on the heels of the sold-out limited EP Was It Ever Real?, The Soft Pink Truth releases a super catchy, sexy contemporary disco banger Is It Going To Get Any Deeper Than This?, Throughout the ten songs of the album, the provocation to go InchdeeperInch prompts promiscuous moves across the genres of disco, minimalism, ambient, and jazz, sliding onto and off of the dancefloor, sweeping higher and lower on the scale of frequencies, engaging both philosophical texts re-set as pop lyrics and wordless glossolalia.1 Deeper2 La Joie Devant La Mort3 Wanna Know4 Trocadero5 Moodswing6 Sunwash7 Joybreath8 Deeper Than This?9 Toot Sweet10 Now That It's All Over

Indigo de Souza's I Love My Mom, her debut LP initially released in 2018, is a collection of the best songs she'd written in the few years that preceded it, recorded quickly and breathlessly and thrown out into the world. Consisting of ten songs, the album feels both raw and unabashed. Indigo pulled a band together for the first time, and was quickly encouraged to commit her songs to tape. Recorded at her friend's house, they played almost everything live in just a few days, and released the record naturally, with little fanfare. That the record quickly took on a life of it's own, deeply resonating with those who heard it, is a testament to Indigo's songwriting. On June 11th I Love My Mom gets the full it deserves - pressed to vinyl for the first time, ahead of a brand new LP a little further down the road.1. How I Get Myself Killed2. Take Off Ur Pants3. 2020 . The Soft Pink Truth is Drew Daniel, who also forms one half of acclaimed electronic duo Matmos. Started as an outlet to explore visceral and sublime sounds that fall outside of Matmos' purview, it draws on knowledge of rave, black metal, and crust punk obscurities to subvert and critique genre expectations. On this record Daniel takes a bold and surprising new direction, moving beyond simple plunderphonic sampling and opening up a genuine dialogue with other musicians, Daniel left room in his compositions for moments of genuine surprise, capturing the freeform, communal energy of a DJ set or live improvisation session more than a recording project. It feels ethereal but full, both ambiently hypnotic, and deliciously danceable.
