The Vibrations - Shout! - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

By the time 'Shout!' hit the racks, in 1968, The Chambers Brothers were on the verge of international success with their psychedelic mega hit InchTime Has Come TodayInch. While no precise recording date is known for these recordings, it is presumed that the live material comes from the same cache of nightclub performances that yielded 1967's 'People Get Ready' and 1968's 'Now!'. Seen here transitioning from an old-school R&B and gospel outfit and into a hipper and decidedly more secular soul band 'Shout!' features standout tracks including 'Blues, Get Off My Shoulder', 'Shout' and 'Johnny B. Goode'.

2020 . Every album has it's own history, and this recording by Vicious Rumors has a pretty unusual one at that originally, the band had planned only twenty concerts to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1988 classic Digital Dictator. InchThe reactions were so enthusiastic that the twenty shows turned into an amazing 108 gigs in the end,Inch remembers band mastermind Geoff Thorpe, still a little awed. InchWe really hadn't expected that. Of course this jumbled the original time schedule for our current album a little.Inch Thorpe is referring to the latest Vicious Rumors masterpiece, Celebration Decay. The date may have suffered a slight delay due to the extended anniversary tour, but at the end of the day few other Vicious Rumors releases have benefit so much from a prior tour. Because, as Thorpe points out InchOn the one hand the new Vicious Rumors studio line-up had an opportunity to grow into a really tight unit during that long tour, which is one of the reasons why Celebration Decay sounds as dynamic and vibrant as any other of our best recordings in our long career. On the other hand the Digital Dictator shows ensured that we came into contact with our early influences again and again. Both factors together have resulted in an album that sounds like typical Vicious Rumors and oozes lots of energy and momentum. I must admit, I couldn't be prouder.Inch

Starting out as a popular gospel and folk group in Southern California in the mid-1950's, The Chambers Brothers became an integral part of the new wave of music that blended gospel and blues influences with the psychedelic sounds of the mid-1960's, reaching their peak in 1968 with their enormously popular 11-minute long song InchTime Has Come Today,Inch which became an anthem of the sixties counter culture. Presented here is their classic 1968 soul meets folk compilation of early sides entitled InchShout!Inch All selections newly remastered.
