Six years and five albums after their debut, Van Halen had become one of the biggest bands in world around the of 1984, which includes a number of the band’s most legendary songs such as the #1 hit, InchJumpInch, InchPanamaInch and InchHot For TeacherInch. Mastering engineer Chris Bellman, who remastered the original albums at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios, was enlisted for this new version. The album's front cover was designed by Mike Doud and depicted Kate Murtagh as a Statue of Liberty figure with the twin World Trade Center towers appearing as two stacks of boxes and the plate of breakfast represents Battery Park, the departure point for the Staten Island Ferry.
