Many users find the control panel difficult to navigate and the sound notifications excessively loud. The microwave's operation requires multiple button presses for simple tasks, leading to frustration among some users. Overall, the user experience is a significant point of contention for customers.

Shockingly bad design for a brand that is supposed to cater to high-end market. And the fact they haven't fixed the UI, which is just software in spite of all these negative review shows you how little they care about what their customers think. I have to assume that one of the most fundamental principles the design team was given was that people who buy this microwave will not be using this often. Read the other reviews, they are spot on. It takes 5 clicks to heat something for 30 seconds. Yes, something that is 1 click on literally every other microwave on planet. All of it can be fixed via software, but they have not done so. We got this free with the Thermador fridge, and were hoping the negative reviews were a bit off the mark, but we were wrong.

What does it take to reheat your food for 30 seconds? FIVE CLICKS (Wakeup -> On/Off -> Microwave -> Add 30 seconds -> Start/Stop) and listening to THREE loud, long & annonying sounds, followed by endless beeps! Thermador user interface designers climbed the height of incompetence and their don't care customer service reached new lows. Read through the reviews below left over two plus years to understand the customer pain and how Thermador is making it endless by ignoring. We took Thermador microwave as part of the whole built-in appliance bundle without trying it out. What a mistake! This pretty piece of junk is driving our family nuts. Do yourself a favor, go to the store and try the microwave for your typical usage. It is not a small decision. Looks of bulit-in appliances need to match. Cabinet cutout hole sizes are different. I failed to read these reviews, and focused only on Thermador cooktop (good), refrigerator and the looks of oven stack. The family is suffering now and we all hate the microwave. The first one was dead on arrival and it took 5 weeks to get it replaced. Now we know what kind of annoyance it is, we need to get something useful such as a Monogram. Looks will not match and we will have to pay the cabinet guys to redo the appliances cabinet for a different hole size, but it is necessary cost to have sanity. I can't return the rest of the Thermadors either as the return window closed due to late arrival of microwave. I am very very very disappointed at Thermador for creating and continuing such a horrible interface to an otherwise beautiful looking microwave. This is unbelievable for a high-end appliance maker. A quick firmware update can alleviate the usability issues but Thermador doesn't do it. We are asking the visitors of our new 100k+ kitchen to stay away from Thermador.

Super unhappy with our pro series microwave oven/oven combination unit. I found another review elsewhere by someone with the same complaints and spent a long time on the phone with a friendly customer service rep at Thermador. Our conclusion is that the digital interface is one big software design mess. We called our salesman for help. He will be checking to see what it will cost to replace the microwave oven with the speed oven. This is a $2400 fix out of our pocket. I will be test driving the speed oven control features before investing more money. After recently dropping over $30k into a full suite of Thermador appliances for our kitchen remodel, we are devastated. One final note: the unit is underpowered. BUYER BEWARE! Look at my picture. Is it on? Is it off? What time is it? I have no answers.
