Thomas Martin - Messa Da Requiem - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Draeseke / Tanski / Hanson - Orchestral Works [COMPACT DISCS] 2 Pack date 10/20/2017

Three major works from the renowned Swiss composer Thomas Fortmann - including the first CD recording of his chamber works Ladyboy and Tango Catolico, which have been very popular in broadcast performances. In Requiem for an Unborn Child we hear a work which has received enormous acclaim in Europe - challenging, uncomfortable words, eclectic and distinctive yet completely accessible musical language which draws much upon the German music-theatre tradition of Weill and cabaret-song.

One of the most exciting cellists of the younger generation and the InchPiano Discovery of the YearInch team up for this GENUIN Benedict Kloeckner and Danae Dorken perform works by Robert Schumann, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Bohuslav Martinu. They have named their album InchNostalgia and RevolutionInch, a title that applies to all three composers who, in a twofold manner, both mirrored and shaped their times. Splendid duo playing with long and sweeping lines together with a fair share of hooks and barbs - a fascinating chamber music production that gives us hope that we'll be hearing more from this duo in the future!
