Thrice - Horizons/East - VINYL LP
About this product
Vinyl LP pressing. To emerge from a global pandemic with a renewed sense of situational awareness, hard won insight, and a new album is the kind of move we've come to expect from Thrice over the last twenty years. With Horizons/East, Dustin Kensrue and his bandmates address, with candor and courage, the fragile and awkward arrangements that pass for civilization, while inviting us to dwell more knowingly within our own lives. Without surrendering any of the energy and hard edge of their previous albums, they've given us a profoundly meditative work which serves as a musical summons to everyday attentiveness.Since forming Thrice with guitarist Teppei Teranishi, bassist Eddie Breckenridge, and drummer Riley Breckenridge in 1998, Kensrue has never been one to back down from a mental fight. This mood is set by the opening synth-driven number InchColor of the Sky,Inch which sounds well-suited to accompany the closing credits of the Stranger Things season finale. Think Flying Lotus giving way to Elbow and setting the listener down in a new dimension. A self-recorded effort, Horizons/East conveys a palpable sense of danger, determination, and possibility.

Double vinyl LP pressing. For years, Childish Gambino's Atavista hid in plain sight. When he released an unfinished version of the record on March 15, 2020, it spent just 12 hours on his website before he pulled it down. Reappearing on streaming a week later as 3.15.20, the project brought up almost as many questions as sparkling neo-soul anthems, which still sounded slicker than the average as raw cuts titled after timestamps. Atavista is an ode to impermanence, never more directly than over the glimmering guitar of InchTimeInch with Grande. (InchOne thing's for certain, baby/We're running out of time, Inch they harmonize on the chorus.) But in Gambino's capable hands, Atavista also slows down to enjoy the view, the sonic equivalent of a luxe leather-interior BMW cruising an open California highway. InchI did what I wanted to, Inch he revels on closing track InchFinal Church.Inch Atavista took many shapes over the years to reach a final form. In each warm refrain, tight sequence, and carefully chosen collaborator, Gambino demonstrates why some things are worth waiting for. Album Tracks 1. Atavista 2. Algorythm 3. Time Feat. Ariana Grande 1. Psilocybae (Millennial Love) Feat. 21 Savage, Ink & Kadhja Bonet 2. To Be Hunted 1. Sweet Thang Feat. Summer Walker 2. Little Foot Big Foot Feat. Young Nudy 1. Why Go to the Party 2. Human Sacrifice 3. The Violence 4. Final Church
