About this product
Vinyl LP pressing. Available for the first time on vinyl. The deluxe edition of Toilet Rats' stellar, hot-selling 2023 'IV' features two brand-new bonus tracks, updated and expanded artwork, and pressed on 100% recycled eco-mix vinyl. Toilet Rats IV from Minneapolis, MN, synth-punk act Toilet Rats. As the name suggests, it's slightly grimy, energetic, tenacious, and oddly entertaining. Tommy Ratz (aka Thomas Rehbein) combines a variety of musical influences ranging from Jawbreaker, DEVO, Nine Inch Nails, Jawbox, Depeche Mode, Ennio Morricone, Lard, Run DMC, Ramones, Powerplant, and other random stuff with lyrics primarily inspired by vintage horror and sci-fi movies to create a concise rock album that, though well produced, never takes itself too seriously. It's as if Ratz (aka Rehbein) took a time machine and made a mixtape from 1987 combining his favorite sounds and VHS rentals from that era. Carol Kane references the fright flick When A Stranger Calls, Walk The Earth recalls zombies, shopping malls, and helicopters, Larva is a nod to Al Jourgenson's dancey thrash side projects, and Oskar and Eli recalls a coming of age vampire story.

On Musica Callada, bassist Jon Hamar brings a deeply personal vision to the classical double bass, illuminating a repertoire that favors discovery over tradition. Eschewing the instrument's most familiar cornerstones, Hamar curates a program of rarely heard and newly realized works. At the album's center is his striking arrangement of Musica Callada by Frederic Mompou, recasting the composer's intimate piano meditations in a richly resonant new voice. With pianist Adrienne Fontenot, Hamar shapes a fluid, expressive dialogue, while works by David P. Jones and Hamar himself introduce moments of improvisation that expand the music's emotional arc. Supported in part by the International Society of Bassists' Harmon Lewis Grant, Musica Callada reveals an artist of breadth, sensitivity, and quiet daring. InchHamar achieves the balance of thoughtfulness and risk-taking that characterizes the most successful musical ventures.Inch - Doug Ramsey

Here they come a crawling, sprawling, gnawing mass of vicious rodents on a rampage. Rats of Gomorrah unleash their debut full-length InchInfectious VerminInch onto a horrified world. If the image of a malicious horde of rats does not give you the creeps, maybe the fact that InchInfectious VerminInch is the result of the German duo's frustration with the metal scene and it's reluctance to any change does. No worries, although Rats of Gomorrah are averse to simply regurgitating all the tired cliches of an average death metal album, they have not completely abandoned that ship. They just took some detours into heavy and speed metal territory, kept vocal pitching varied, and added some hot spices such as crust-infused riffs and catchy choruses. Rats of Gomorrah are one of those bands that have a much longer story behind them than their emergence under that name suggests. Strictly speaking the German duo only crawled out of their hole with a new rodent moniker in 2023. Yet they also started out with over a decade of death metal experience under their pelt. Guitarist and vocalist Daniel Stelling and Moritz Paulsen on drums had already been a part of the internationally active Northern German death metal trio DIVIDE since 2009, which had become a duo in 2016. Hopefully, by now there is an itchy feeling on your skin, and rustling noises from behind your walls, while a sense of dread and panic is spreading. The best antidote blast InchInfectious VerminInch on ten - and never a rat will you ever see more. Well, maybe a neighbour or four knocking on your door. So what?! Tell them all that Rats of Gomorrah rule supreme!
