Karbholz - Kapitel 11: Barrikaden - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The 4 friends in band Kärbholz from the tranquil town of Ruppichteroth, Germany will be 18 years old in 2023.Some people will think that at some point the wear and tear must become noticeable. Not at all. Because the forced break of the past two years was by no means only a stroke of bad luck for Torben (vocals), Adrian (guitar), Stefan (bass) and Henning (drums). True to the motto InchEven the break belongs to the music!Inch the time was used to catch their breath, refuel and creatively come together and reunite in the rehearsal room. Once again, the four guys were supported by the producer team Eike Freese (Chameleon Studios) and Alexander Dietz (Heaven Shall Burn, Chemical Burn Studios). On InchKapitel Elf BarrikadenInch you can hear 11 new tracks. Songs that tell stories from life sometimes in a small, sometimes in a big way. The musical range of the album is proven by songs like the poem DER ZUG set to music, the Inchalmost crossoverInch brawler MUT GEGEN PERSPEKTIVE or GAR NICHTS, which alternates between bittersweet harmonies and rigorous reckoning with false friends.

Tom Rogerson - Retreat To Bliss - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Since the of his last album - 2017's Finding Shore, a collaboration with Brian Eno - pianist and singer-songwriter Tom Rogerson's life has undergone a number of dramatic transformations. While writing his new album Retreat to Bliss, Rogerson had a child, lost a parent, and received his own diagnosis of a rare form of blood cancer. The new decade brought him from Berlin to the Suffolk of his childhood, composing profound pieces of minimal songwriting in the church next to his parents' home. Rogerson studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music under mentors like Harrison Birtwistle, and he made his live debut as an improvising pianist in 2002, before releasing an improvised record with Reid Anderson (Bad Plus) and Mike Lewis (Happy Apple, Bon Iver) in 2004. He formed the band Three Trapped Tigers in 2007, expertly blending elements of electronic, jazz and noise rock into a cohesive whole. The band earned a reputation for innovative live shows and went on to perform and collaborate with artists like Brian Eno, Deftones, and the Dillinger Escape Plan. It was working with Eno, another Suffolk native, that eventually led Rogerson back to his roots and back to a place where he could write Retreat to Bliss, his solo debut album.InchAll my life, the piano has been my constant companion, my confessor, my best friend, and my worst enemy,Inch Rogerson explains. InchI've always written music on and for the piano, but it felt too personal, too private to .InchIndeed, listening to Retreat to Bliss feels almost like eavesdropping, as though you're crouched in the belfry of a Suffolk church, bearing witness to a form of musical bloodletting. For the first time in his noteworthy career, Rogerson has combined masterful piano playing and subtle electronics with the texture of his own voice, an attempt to express deeply private emotions that were difficult to articulate using ins

Tom Poisson - Jean-Michel - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

His career started just twenty years ago. With 14 records under his belt, and his seventh solo album out soon, he takes the slow road when the whole world rushes forth. He wears intuition on his sleeve, and is compass is sincerity. 26 January 2024 will mark the of Tom Poisson's new record, plainly entitled Jean-Michel. DisquietJean-Michel, that's his officially registered name. That's him. All fourteen songs from this new record are him, at his most intimate. One record after the other, Tom spreads his flying fish's wings, and rewards us with a theater in relief, imbued with humanity. Thus he fuels his Imagination Too Wide (i.e. Trop grand imaginaire). His flaws are ours; his flights relieve us.This is like discovering uncharted territory. Tom knows, or he doesn't know, how beautiful the adventure will be if he takes this or that road. He has a hunch, a hope. His love for songs sung in French, as well as sincerity, are the common ground of all the lands where Tom Poisson has ventured hitherto. But this record also provides something new. This was made possible by collaborating with Denis Piednoir, which Poisson directed and InchcoercedInch - in the sense that coercion, sometimes, makes the playground bigger. As a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and arranger, Denis has become Tom's main man - first, on stage during the latest tour (Se passer des visages - 2020 / 2022), then during the recording of Jean-Michel, which they produced together. The pair of them have been playing with sound, as with Lego bricks, blending acoustic and organic sounds, electronic music and French InchchansonInch, at the crossroads between James Blake, Jeanne Added, and Mathieu Boogaerts. The CrewThe rhythm section was strengthened by Emiliano Turi, alias Don Turi (a highly skilled drummer, DJ, and Jeanne Added's musical director) for some of the programming and various sounds.
