Tomahawk - Oddfellows - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

After his debut solo album with music by Bach, Bartók and Boulez, Michael Barenboim's second album is also dedicated to works for solo violin and features compositions by Salvatore Sciarrino, Giuseppe Tartini, Luciano Berio, and Niccolò Paganini, sketching a short history of Italian solo violin literature. The four works seem very heterogenous at first glance but what unites them is their rich technical and stylistic spectrum. The juxtaposition of traditional and contemporary music works creates an inimitable sound cosmos and makes the works by Tartini and Paganini sound incredibly modern alongside 20th-century music. Michael Barenboim creatively navigates the sometimes obsessive and diabolical elements of the works and creates an inspired and unique interpretation. This was recorded at the Jesus-Christus-Kirche Berlin in June, 2017.

On their 20th anniversary (that's a good hook to sell a tour livestream, right?), they finally return with their fifth full-length album, Tonic Immobility [Ipecac], in 2021. The guys-guitarist Duane Denison [the Jesus Lizard, Unsemble, etc.], vocalist Mike Patton [Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, etc.], drummer John Stanier [Helmet, Battles, etc.], and bassist Trevor Inchfield mouseInch Dunn [Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, etc.]-survey where they've come from only to leap ahead once more.

Information Society's latest , ODDfellows, maintains Europop inspiration with New Wave's commercially delectable sound. Featuring airy beats, it hits the ground running and feels like the synth-drenched dance sequence dream of cinematic proportions. INFOSOC also places themselves on the frontier of technology, with a separate ODDfellows made just for headphones and employs THX 'Spatial Audio' used in video games and simulates Inchsound outside your head,Inch giving listeners an experience unlike any other. This is also available in standard audio. ODDfellows is a that challenges and entertains the listener. The record is available to download now on Bandcamp.
