About this product

The duo has toured extensively across the U.S. and abroad, garnering acclaim for their cacophonous and wild live shows. Petunia is their 19th album and 2nd official studio album. Unlike the more jam-based Sorcerer (2017), Petunia showcases a greater emphasis on songwriting and conventional song structure. All songs were primarily written, recorded, and produced by Andy & Edwin at home.

Fire Talk is proud to present three early Tonstartssbandht albums reissued on color vinyl for the first time. 'An When'is a snapshot from the earliest days of the Florida brother's vast 18 album catalog that provides a distinct starting point from which the band has journeyed. Through years of constant touring, the duo's songs have both taken shape and changed shape, yet maintained their long, languid tendencies, full of open musical questions and temporary answers. Far from what FADER calls 'psychedelia's most intriguing upstarts,' the band's 'time-warped explosion of folksy jams designed to transport you out of this world' (Pitchfork) have become their own distinct object. Each reissue provides a photograph that perfectly encapsulates Tonstartssbandht at a single moment in their evolution. Now critically-acclaimed statesmen who staked out their own territory in the underground music of the early aughts, the reissued recordings feel both transcendent and intimate, a portal into a lineage of music that feels laden with possibility and exploratory wonder.

The Bill Evans Trio with Scott LaFaro on bass and Paul Motian on drums would reach a climax with their June 25, 1961 club recordings at the Village Vanguard in New York. LaFaro would die in a car accident soon after (on July 6, 1961), at the age of 25. Evans was so shocked by his bassist's death that he waited a long time before forming a new trio. A selection of pieces from the Village Vanguard session was made by Evans himself and originally presented on two albums Sunday at the Village Vanguard and Waltz for Debby, the latter presented here in it's entirety.
