About This Item

Three CD set. 88 tracks of beat, mod and British R&B recorded by producer Joe Meek in his studio at 304 Holloway Road in North London. Includes numerous unreleased tracks plus unissued versions and takes of others with 86 tracks taken directly from Meek's legendary Tea Chest Tapes archive. Featuring Screaming Lord Sutch, The Cryin' Shames, The Riot Squad, David John & The Mood, The Syndicats, The Buzz, Heinz With The Wild Boys, The Blue Rondos, Jason Eddie & The Centremen, The Birds Of Prey, The Honeycombs, The Millionaires and many more. This fantastic collection will please both lovers of mid 60s beat music and Meek obsessives with a cherry pick of beat era A and B sides (some in previously unheard versions) followed by myriad previously unreleased gems. Numerous highlights include Meek's last Top 30 hit production, 'Please Stay' by The Cryin' Shames, freakbeat classic 'Crawdaddy Simone' by The Syndicats, Screaming Lord Sutch's banned by the BBC horror rocker 'Jack The Ripper' and David John & The Mood's incendiary take on Bo Diddley's 'Bring It To Jerome'. Newly discovered nuggets include tracks by mod groups The Birds Of Prey and The Riot Squad, tough R&B numbers from The Classics, The Set and Malcolm & The Countdowns, unhinged freakbeat from The Falcons and Tony Dangerfield and an infectious soul beat performance by Blue Rivers and his band. There's even some early psychedelia from The Impac on their 'Hold The Door' and from the Unknown Group that recorded 'Land Of Shame'.Detailed notes are provided by the Joe Meek Society's Craig Newton and the booklet includes photos of original tape boxes. Album Tracks 1. Screaming Lord Sutch - Jack the Ripper 2. Freddie Starr & the Midnighters - Peter Gunn Locomotion (Vocal & Guitar Take 2) 3. The Syndicats - Maybelline (Take 11) 4. The Outlaws - Shake with Me (Guitar Take 2, Original Speed) 5. Tony Dang

Deftones - Around the Fur - VINYL LP
    4.6(12)

Around the Fur the follow-up to Deftones' passionate, aggressive Adrenaline, sees the California quartet expanding on the sheer rage of their earlier work, adding new, more sinister shades to their already extreme sound. The opening InchMy Own Summer (Shove It),Inch serves as an introduction to the album's sonic theme sinewy guitars and eerie whispers alternate with fast, violent crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavallero contributes guitar and vocals to InchHeadup,Inch while InchMXInch finds singer Chino trading off vocal lines with Annalynn Cunningham, (wife of Deftones' drummer Abe) in an acerbic take on the rock star mentality. Vocal acrobat Moreno attacks a variety of styles his breathy, psychotic recitations sound downright industrial, while the album's calmer, more brooding moments show his gift for haunting melody. Behind him, guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy wall of sound is astoundingly muscular, yet inspiringly agile. When Deftones' hellish fury hits full tilt, as it always does on this album, Moreno's voice erupts into screams which are best described as otherworldly, transforming this intense musical firestorm into a hurtling juggernaut of aggression. This LP version comes pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Album Tracks 1. My Own Summer (Shove It) 2. Lhabia 3. Mascara 4. Around the Fur 5. Rickets 6. Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) 7. Lotion 8. Dai the Flu 9. Headup 10. MX
