About this product
Richard Sutton and Linda Pearson are secretly engaged but unable to marry because of financial problems. Crooked promoter Gibbons offers Richard a deal but, in order to get rid of him, Richard says a rich uncle in Brazil has died and left him a fortune. The news soon spreads all over town and perks up his wealthy-and-ailing grandmother and her doctor warns Richard against telling her the truth. Granny Sutton tricks him into an engagement with a beautiful young nitwit, Gwenny Miller, of whom she is very fond. Barbara Cartwright, daughter of the town's richest man, suggests she has an idea to get him out of his difficulty and Richard, suffering from an overdose of sleeping pills, visits her. He is too sleepy to realize that her plans calls for marrying her instead, and when her father catches them in an embrace, Richard finds himself engaged to a third woman. Linda walks out and Richard goes on a drinking spree and wakes up in the apartment of playboy Chester Wannamaker, who had lent him his keys before leaving town. Chester's chorus girl fiancee, Lorraine O'Reilly, arrives and proceeds to make herself at home. Gwenny and Barbara also show up as does Lorraine's gangster brother Spike O'Reilly who insists, at the point of a gun, that Richard do right by his sister. And then it gets confusing.

One week after a mild car accident, a 45-year-old man suffers total amnesia. He embarks upon a new life with a new wife far away from his family. Sixteen years later, his oldest son returns with a camera to find out why his father's memory never returned.
When Bill Cardew (Fred MacMurray, Double Indemnity) returns to town a year after surviving a shipwreck, he finds out that his wife, Vicky (Jean Arthur, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington), is now married to his best friend, Henry (two-time Oscar winner Melvyn Douglas, 1963, Best Supporting Actor, Hud and 1979, Best Supporting Actor, Being There). Vicky finds herself in a quandary, having to choose between the two men, although she loves both
What it creates, love can also destroy. That much is clear in Two Women, as love and desire forge and raze relationships on a rich Russian estate. This adaptation of Ivan Turgenev's play A Month in the Country centers around the lovely Natalya as she seeks passion outside a lackluster marriage. Though dashing Mikhail (Ralph Fiennes)couldn't be more different from her wealthy older husband, Natalya spurns his attempts at flirtation. Instead she's darkly drawn to her son's young tutor Aleksei, and she's not the only one. Her teenage stepdaughter Vera is smitten as well, and the two women find themselves ensnared in a complex web of unrequited love, guilt, lust and jealousy whose consequences will shake their world to it's core.
