About this product

Limited 180gm translucent yellow vinyl LP pressing. Issued on vinyl for the first time since 1988, this reissue comes with a new inner sleeve. Prostitute is Toyah's most experimental and bold album, highlighting her oppression once married and outdated expectations long before today's woke narrative. Sonically it is also a radical departure comprising drums, vocal and guitar meshed with a scrapbook of samples and side two closing on a locked groove. The album was written and played entirely by Toyah and Steve Sidelynk, who went on to record and play live with Madonna, Seal and Richard Ashcroft, amongst many others.

Toyah - Posh Pop - VINYL LP

Limited 180gm gray colored vinyl LP pressing. 2021 from the British singer/songwriter. Toyah made the album Posh Pop with her long-term songwriting partner Simon Darlow. Posh Pop is a strong collection of infectious and affirmative pop songs that are as joyous as they are reflective, from the cosmic groove of InchSpace DanceInch, to the sun-kissed anthem of unity InchSummer Of LoveInch. The album is crafted with evocative storytelling and musicianship from Toyah, Simon Darlow (guitars, keyboards, cello), Bobby Willcox (guitar) and Jeremy Stacey (drums). Posh Pop opens with the energy-burst of InchLevitateInch and leads the listener on a journey that climaxes in the soaring, intergalactic-tinged InchTake Me HomeInch. The album was inspired by the world we find ourselves in today and touches on the ever-present desire to be 'famous for fifteen minutes' a la Andy Warhol, escaping the everyday, but above all staying connected to humankind beyond computer screens and geography. Produced by Simon Darlow, Posh Pop is Toyah's first brand new studio solo album since 2008 and twenty-fifth album since 1979.

Toyah - Velvet Lined Shell - VINYL LP

Limited ten inch 180gm purple colored vinyl pressing. This 2003 mini-album saw Toyah return to songwriting and music-making days in the 2000s. Co-written with Sweet Billy Pilgrim's Tim Elsenburg, the six tracks include the punky InchLittle Tears Of LoveInch and InchYou're A MiracleInch alongside the brooding, sultry title track and introspective folky InchMotherInch.

Toyah - Desire - VINYL LP

Limited 180gm white vinyl LP pressing. Desire is the second studio album released by Toyah Willcox as a solo artist. It is more typical of her band's earlier albums rather than it's more commercial predecessor Minx, although it didn't entirely escape the imposition of cover versions, including InchEcho BeachInch, originally recorded by Martha and the Muffins, and, somewhat incongruously, InchLove's UnkindInch, originally by Donna Summer. However, most of the songs are once again co-written by Willcox, and while the original of the album does not feature any musician credits, it does however benefit from a consistent band line-up, rather than the large number of session musicians involved in Minx. Robert Fripp and Ronnie Wood play on the album but are also uncredited.
