  • Security
    • Data Encryption: true
    • Encryption Type: WPA, WPA2, WPA3, WPA-PSK (The security protocols or certification programs that protect the Wi-Fi network.)
    • Firewall Type: NAT (The method the firewall uses to filter and process data to increase network security, primarily by blocking malicious traffic requests while allowing legitimate traffic through.)
    • Parental Controls: true (Allows user to block unwanted content, signals, channels, networks, etc. from being received or accessed.)
  • Network
    • Quality Of Service (QoS) Traffic Prioritization: true (Allows a user to manage a device's network performance by configuring the types of traffic that receive top priority for transmission. High priority functions and applications receive maximum network performance, while low priority traffic receives minimum performance.)
    • Band Technology: Tri (Refers to the number of frequency bands used to wirelessly transmit an internet signal. For example, dual-band devices may use one 2.4 and one 5 GHz band, while tri-band devices may use one 2.4 and two 5 GHz bands. Multiple bands also provide more flexibility for designating connected devices to specific band use.)
    • Ethernet Standard: 10/100/1000/2500 (Each standard is a variation of the IEEE 802.3 set of computer networking technologies known as Ethernet. New versions evolved to include higher bandwidth, different physical media, and other new and improved features. Standards are often denoted by speeds (in Megabits per second). For example, a 10/100/1000 Ethernet port transmits at 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and 1000 Mbps (1 Gbps).)
    • Frequency Band: 2.4 GHz, 5.0 GHz, 5.0 GHz (Bands may be grouped into categories such as low- and high-band VHF (Very High Frequency), low- and high-band UHF (Ultra High Frequency), or certain frequency channels (measured in MHz or GHz). Generally, higher frequencies transmit information faster but have shorter range than lower frequencies.)
    • Wireless Networking Standard: Wi-Fi 6 (The wireless networking standard used by the device. Each iteration of the standard developed by the Wi-Fi Alliance corresponds to an existing IEEE 802.11 protocol; for example, standard 802.11ac (or AC) is termed Wi-Fi 5. Refers specifically to the standard the device is designed to use, but ultimately determines product interoperability and backward compatibility including previous versions.)

    • Wi-Fi Range: 6000 square feet (The device will provide a Wi-Fi connection to this approximate area.)
    • Number of 2.4Ghz Streams: 1 (A router's streams are like lanes on a highway. The more streams a router has, the less traffic congestion. Because the 2.4 GHz band is used to transmit wireless signals to a wide variety of devices, there is often high amounts of traffic on that stream. But with multiple streams, each can be designated to a specific device for optimal performance. For example, if one 2.4 GHz stream is assigned to one device, such as a desktop computer, it leaves the remaining streams open for guest users, devices that use more data, or devices with specific band compatibility.)
    • Number of 5.0Ghz Streams: 1 (A router's streams are like lanes on a highway. The more streams a router has, the less traffic congestion. The 5.0 GHz band provides high speed, short-range data transmission and typically has less traffic than the 2.4 GHz band. With multiple streams, each can be designated to a specific device for optimal performance. For example, if one 5.0 GHz stream is assigned to one device, such as a streaming media player, it leaves the remaining streams open for guest users, devices that need less data, or devices with specific band compatibility.)
    • Wi-Fi Mesh System: true (A single wireless network consisting of a main router (connected directly to a modem) that connects to a series of satellite modules or nodes placed around the home. Routers with this capability promote stronger, faster wireless signals as well as increase Wi-Fi coverage by reducing interference and eliminating dead zones.)

Q: Is there an outdoor mesh device that could be used to work with the deco system?

A: I created a dry box with an old plastic ammo can, a whole saw and some aquarium acrylic to seal the whole I made. Been running 2 m5 decos outside for a few years.

Q: I have a TP-Link Archer AX73 router that provides WiFi & wired connections to my non-wireless devices. How would I integrate the Deco X90 units with my AX73? Can they just be placed at the far end of the house or does one need to be plugged into the AX73?

A: Hi! At least one Deco unit must be connected to your existing Archer AX73 network via Ethernet cable. The remaining Deco units can then connect to the primary unit via Mesh or Ethernet, depending on your preference. Please note the Deco X90 supports both Router Mode (default) and Access Point Mode. Please be sure to select the operating mode that best suits your network needs.

Q: I currently have a mesh network with tp link deco m5 and I want to extend it with deco X90. Are they compatible?

A: You would want to redo your network with the X90 as the primary router (or at least primary wifi node) and then add the Deco M5 units onto the network after that. Otherwise you will not get the higher speeds in the areas covered by the X90 units.

Q: This is probably a dumb question BUT....is this a modem or router or both? I am looking to replace my modem from optimum but i already have a wireless router.

A: Hi! The Deco X90 is a Mesh Wi-Fi System designed to perform the role of a router in your network while providing seamless coverage throughout your home. You will still need a separate modem if your Internet provider/plan requires it, to use in conjunction with the Deco, since the Deco X90 is not a modem.

Q: I have a security systen that needs a physical ethernet connection. Can I connect it using this system to either the base unit or one of the other units? Also, are the units different? If I buy more do I buy another set or are there add-on units?

A: Yes, the Ethernet ports on the base or satellite units can be conveniently used to establish wired LAN connectivity for your devices. All of our Deco models are compatible with each other, so you can conveniently expand your Mesh Wi-Fi network at your convenience. If you like the performance offered by the Deco X90, you can introduce additional Deco X90s, or other Deco models, depending on your networking needs and/or preferences.

Q: I know that I want three total satellites/routers so i can put one downstairs and one in each office. Can you compare buying three TP link deco x90s to just buying Netgear ax6000 3 pack or eero pro 6/6e 3 pack.

A: Hi! All of our Deco Mesh products are compatible with each other, and are conveniently expandable via the Deco app, so you can install as many Deco nodes as you need within your home (up to 10 max if exclusively using Wi-Fi Mesh backhaul - but higher than 10 if using Ethernet backhaul for some, or all units).

Q: Can on unit perform as a router and a second unit perform as an access point in the same network?

A: Absolutely! You can conveniently configure this via the Deco app.

Q: Can the primary/base unit (router) ALSO simultaneously act as an AP?

A: It cannot be both at the same time. Both units are identical. Can be either base or extender, but not at the same time.
