Hollow Ground - Warlord - VINYL LP

Reissue 2024, 425gsm heavy cardboard cover, insert, ltd 350, Remastered and restored by Patrick W. Engel at TEMPLE OF DISHARMONY in 2012. With just four compilation tracks and one 7Inch EP issued in the early 1980s, Hollow Ground did have a rather low profile at the time of the original New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. However, their first and only single »Flying High« (issued on the collectable Guardian Records tag) became an instant collector's item. Today copies with the scarce picture sleeve fetch rather insane prices. Before the of the single Hollow Ground had recorded the four songs 'Rock On', 'Fight With The Devil', 'Flying High' and 'The Holy One' for the Guardian compilation album entitled »Roksnax«. Hollow Ground carried on to record more material (such as 'Promised Land', 'Easy Action', 'Rock To Love' and 'Loser') but an album deal was not on the cards. As a result singer Glenn Coates left to join local rivals Fist. As a result, Hollow Ground split up in mid-1981. In comparism to some of the more conservative-sounding New Wave Of British Heavy Metal acts at the time (for example Fist), Hollow Ground did show a lot of promise. Guitarist Martin Metcalf knows why InchI think we had a wider range of influences as opposed to just heavy bands, we took things from all over the rock spectrum. We were like sponges soaking everything up, from the funk of Aerosmith, the hard-rock of Montrose to the proginess of Rush.Inch The song 'Fight With The Devil' was chosen by Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich for his »N.W.O.B.H.M. '79 Revisited« compilation released in 1990. Hollow Ground have recently played two re-union gigs 2007 at Headbangers Open Air in Northern Germany and in late February 2014 at Newcastle's own Brofest. Glenn Coates (vocals), Martin Metcalf (guitar), Brian Rickman (bass) and John Lockney (drums)

Warlord - From The Ashes - VINYL LP

When William J. Tsamis, founder of legendary Epic Metal masters Warlord, sadly passed away on the 13th of May 2021 at the age of only 60, it looked as if the premature death of one of the most creative forces in American metal had come. However, Warlord bounced back, with a new line-up and a brand new studio album entitled InchFree Spirit SoarInch (on High Roller Records) to huge critical acclaim. With guitar and bass parts of Bill Tsamis saved from original recordings, the current team of Mark Zonder (drums), Jimmy Waldo (keyboards) and Giles Lavery (vocals) (plus Eric Juris on guitars and bass on two of the songs) is now following InchFree Spirit SoarInch with an additional album called InchFrom The Ashes To The Archives - The Hot Pursuit ContinuesInch A limited edition to mark the occasion of the bands summer dates in 2024. Singer Giles Lavery explains InchWhat we wanted to do with some of these songs was to revisit some of the songs from the InchRising Out Of The AshesInch record with this line-up (and using Bill's guitar and bass tracks) - to give fans an idea of how they are going to sound live this year. Please don't get me wrong, i think Joacim Cans did a brilliant job on the InchRising Out Of The AshesInch originals, so these new versions are to be seen very much as a companion to the 2002 versions, rather than any kind of 'replacement' for them. However, the mixes this time around are a little heavier and rawer, and to me it sounds more sonically like it's the 1980s era Warlord, (a sound which really suits the band) ironically the 1980s is when most of these songs on this new collection were written, long before they were recorded for Lordian Guard... InchWinds Of ThorInch for example was part of the very first Warlord Demo back in 1982It may require a little bit of imagination, but it's almost like, in an alternate reality, IF there had been a follow-up
