Leonard (Joaquin Phoenix) moves back into his childhood home following a recent breakup. He soon meets two women, Michelle (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Sandra (Vinessa Shaw) and becomes deeply infatuated with Michelle. However, mounting family pressure pushes him towards committing to Sandra.
