Uli Jon Roth - Under a Dark Sky - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Magenta Vinyl. If 2022's The Children Of Scorpio was the debut album that turned people onto the world of Project Gemini aka Paul Osborne, Colours & Light is the body of work that will be buried deep into their hearts. It is a majestic album, bringing together the worlds of folk rock, psych soundtracks and hazy cinematic funk. A growing confidence and ease emanate from the writing and production of this sophomore LP, bolstered by the reception to his standout debut. InchIt's a more layered and diverse recordInch Paul mentions, Inchwith a more outward-looking, global sound, born out of the records I was listening to and the musicians I was lucky enough to collaborate withInch. It feels relaxed yet self-assured, with a kaleidoscope of sounds that twist together in a mesmerising fashion.Balancing light and shade on this record, there is beauty and tension all wrapped up in Paul's vivid and visceral, storytelling gift.

The numerous winter visitors and staging migrants gathering at Lake Constance in winter provide a magnificent and endlessly fascinating wildlife spectacle, which is also reflected in the many and varied sounds we hear from this sound image. Hundreds of Curlews, Whooper Swans and gulls, thousands of ducks, as well as many other bird species, have chosen Lake Constance, with it's extensive shallows and reedbeds as a staging, moulting and overwintering site. For more than 20 years, at first only in the spring, later in the autumn and winter, Walter Tilgner has been making digital sound-recordings in the typical fen and reedbed habitats of the Lake Constance landscape, mainly in the Rhine Delta of Vorarlberg, Austria, and over recent years in cooperation with the organization Vorarlberger Naturschau - inatura [Vorarlberg Conservation and Natural History Study Centre, Dornbirn, Austria].

Originally released in 1978, Love Beach captures Emerson, Lake & Palmer at the close of their initial run. Recorded during a turbulent period for the band, the album balances shorter, radio-ready material with the side-long suite InchMemoirs of an Officer and a Gentleman.Inch This 2017 remaster brings renewed clarity and separation to the original mix, tightening the rhythm section and adding definition to the layered keyboards and vocals. Tracks such as InchAll I Want Is YouInch sit alongside more expansive arrangements, reflecting the stylistic shifts of the late '70s. For collectors and catalog completists, this remastered edition offers the strongest presentation of a divisive but historically significant entry in the ELP discography. Presented on CD in 4-panel Digisleeve with booklet included.
