About This Item

This 2005 import remastered edition features the original 9 tracks, plus an interview with Dio. Recorded at Sound City Studios, Los Angeles, California. Despite recording two hit studio albums with Black Sabbath (1980's Heaven And Hell and 1981's the Mob Rules) and playing throughout the world to huge crowds, Ronnie James Dio left the band in 1982, the year of his final with Sabbath, the in-concert Live Evil. As soon as the announcement of his departure was made official, Dio began to put together his first solo project. Joining him were former Rainbow bandmate Jimmy Bain on bass, former Sabbath bandmate Vinny Appice on drums, ex-Sweet Savage guitar hero Vivian Campbell, and newcomer Claude Schnell on keyboards. Holy Diver, Dio's band debut, was originally issued in 1983. The album quickly became a favorite among headbangers worldwide and eventually earned the group platinum certification. The somewhat upbeat sounding 'Rainbow in the Dark' was an MTV favorite, while the plodding title track proved to be another standout. Other album highlights include the opening anthem 'Stand Up And Shout', 'Invisible', and 'Don't Talk to Strangers'. Holy Diver proved that Dio's departure from Black Sabbath had not affected his spirits. In fact, he sounds most inspired here, aided by his new, hungry backing bandDio's classic album from 1983 has been completely remastered and boasts a new interview with Ronnie James Dio conducted by Paul Suter at Ronnie's home studio in July 2005. Dio - Holy Diver - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Holy Diver - DIO - Holy Diver is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Dio, released in 1983. Vocalist Ronnie James Dio had just finished his first tenure in Black Sabbath, whose drummer Vinny Appice he took with him to put together his own band. The roster was completed by his former band mate in Rainbow Jimmy Bain on bass and by the young guitarist Vivian Campbell, coming from the NWOBHM band Sweet Savage. The album was acclaimed by the music press and is the most successful of the band. The cover features the band mascot, Murray spinning chains around waves where a man with a priest or minister's collar in chains is floating. Dio was quick to argue that appearances are misleading, that it could just as easily be a priest killing a devil, wanting people not to Inchjudge a book by it's coverInch. Album Tracks 1. Stand Up and Shout 2. Holy Diver 3. Gypsy 4. Caught in the Middle 5. Don't Talk to Strangers 6. Straight Through the Heart 7. Invisible 8. Rainbow in the Dark 9. Shame on the Night

Deftones - Around the Fur - VINYL LP
    4.6(12)

Around the Fur the follow-up to Deftones' passionate, aggressive Adrenaline, sees the California quartet expanding on the sheer rage of their earlier work, adding new, more sinister shades to their already extreme sound. The opening InchMy Own Summer (Shove It),Inch serves as an introduction to the album's sonic theme sinewy guitars and eerie whispers alternate with fast, violent crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavallero contributes guitar and vocals to InchHeadup,Inch while InchMXInch finds singer Chino trading off vocal lines with Annalynn Cunningham, (wife of Deftones' drummer Abe) in an acerbic take on the rock star mentality. Vocal acrobat Moreno attacks a variety of styles his breathy, psychotic recitations sound downright industrial, while the album's calmer, more brooding moments show his gift for haunting melody. Behind him, guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy wall of sound is astoundingly muscular, yet inspiringly agile. When Deftones' hellish fury hits full tilt, as it always does on this album, Moreno's voice erupts into screams which are best described as otherworldly, transforming this intense musical firestorm into a hurtling juggernaut of aggression. This LP version comes pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Album Tracks 1. My Own Summer (Shove It) 2. Lhabia 3. Mascara 4. Around the Fur 5. Rickets 6. Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) 7. Lotion 8. Dai the Flu 9. Headup 10. MX
