UMG - Sos Band - Sands Of Time - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Vinyl LP pressing. 2018 collection. Bikini Kill Records is excited to reissue of The Singles, on both vinyl and compact disc. This is the first time that it has been released as a 12-inch (special note for all you vinyl fanatics, we managed to keep it at 45rpm for better sound quality)! The Singles was initially released in 1998 as a CD only compilation of all of Bikini Kill's 7Inchs. Once called Inchtheir defining documentInch by Pitchfork it includes Bikini Kill's legendary collaboration with JOAN JETT on the New Radio (1993) single as well as the long out of print Anti Pleasure Dissertation (1995) and I Like Fucking (1995) singles.

Japanese re-issue, part of Universal Japan's 'Throwback Soul Soul/Funk, classic and hard-to-find titles' campaign. 2022.

Originally released in 1973 on Encounter Records, Profile's Sands of Time was produced by Bernard Purdie (a living, walking definition of soul-jazz drumming), and the album bears his signature sound. With Don Sands on organ, Dave Barron on guitar, Seldon Powell on tenor sax, Garnett Brown on trombone, Jimmy Owens on trumpet, Paul Martinez on bass, and Purdie and Butchman Bateman sharing the drum kit, with help from percussionist Norman Pride, the album catches an easy, gently funky shuffle tone from the opening track, Barron's Inch99 Baseball,Inch and then never lets go. Instrumental versions of Al Green's InchLet's Stay Together,Inch Isaac Hayes' InchShaft,Inch and Jimmy Webb's (via Isaac Hayes) InchBy the Time I Get to PhoenixInch all fall into a delightful rainy-day groove, making Sands of Time somewhat of a lost classic.
