Underoath - The Place After This One - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

A composer who writes songs arguably allows us into a very personal side of his or her character. An instrumental composition gives us access to a composer's imagination and invention as far as the composer chooses to let us see, but a song shows a composer's highly personal response to a text - we hear how the composer reacts to another facet of creativity. We are not confined to the composer's own thoughts, and the best songs take us into a composer's creative mind. Cyril Scott's compositional style reflected the color and richness of his ideas. The songs on this cover a period from his early 20s to when he was about 40. A few of Scott's songs became extraordinarily popular they undoubtedly overshadowed the rest of his work. In many of his songs, he explored and developed his harmonic language, and set the mood and character of the text, so that the best can be explored at many levels. Some of them seem simple, but hide, as Edmund Rubbra, a composer and a student of Scott, put it, 'a good deal of artifice'. Repeated listening allow their richness of detail to sink in, and they become more and more rewarding.

New Orleans string band jazz was popular between 1910 and 1925, but the genre was seldom recorded. This ensemble-featuring Bill Kleppinger, Bernie Shields, Edmond Souchon, and Frank InchRedInch Mackie-began playing in 1913 and performs the traditional New Orleans jazz band repertoire on mandolin, guitar, steel guitar, and bass.

2022 . Voyeurist marks the first time in Underoath's storied career that they took the recording process completely into their own hands. Doing so led to plenty of difficult conversations, but it also provided the ideal situation for artistic innovation. As McTague continues InchI've always wanted to record our own album. I think we just needed to get into a headspace personally that would allow criticism and critique to land in a productive and constructive way.Inch The result is the most collaborative album of Underoath's career and, anchored in a profound respect for each other, one that left no stone unturned creatively. McTague adds again InchWe grew so much in real time and I think the record speaks to that growth and collaboration. I haven't ever felt this attached to a project in my life.Inch The band refers to Voyeurist as Inchhigh-def violenceInch - technologically advanced, but undeniably visceral. Conceptually, Voyeurist has several interrelated meanings, each tying back to the concepts of how we curate ourselves through social media and how that facade masks a lot of what we actually experience in life. The album is a cohesive listening experience with enough layers to provide fans with a fresh take and new favorite track on every spin.
