A: It will work but you can only elevate it to 30 degrees. Any higher and the front stops extend beyond the width of the ipad. I returned the unit because 30 degrees is not a steep enough angle for my needs.

A: Yes but the range of adjustment is very limited
Q: Is this metal or plastic construction?
A: It's mostly molded plastic but it's plenty strong enough to support a laptop, mine is a 15 inch Lenovo Yoga 9i and there is no flex unless I get aggressive with my typing.
Q: In maximum extended position (highest), how much does it raises laptop screen ?
A: At the highest point of the stand it measures approximately 7.5".
A: It's 8.5 inches at it's widest adjustment, I have a 15" Lenovo Yoga and it fits fine, but the stand is not really designed to be picked up with the laptop still on it since there's not much to grab onto
