• It's 8.5 inches at it's widest adjustment, I have a 15" Lenovo Yoga and it fits fine, but the stand is not really designed to be picked up with the laptop still on it since there's not much to grab onto

• It does not expand wide enough to pick your laptop up with the stand. I have a 17" laptop and I am sure a 15" will not be enough different. When you expand the stand wide enough it also makes the keyboard get steeper -- unacceptably steep for large laptops. Also, the front stops are not high enought to keep a rounded edge laptop from falling off the front.
