Unsane - Occupational Hazard (2026 Remaster) - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

By 1991 Unsane had perfected a unique InchextremeInch sound that established them as an important part of the NYC noise scene. With a couple singles and an unreleased 12Inch EP (InchImprovised MunitionsInch eventually released in 2020), vocalist and guitarist Chris Spencer explains InchWe got offered a CBGB's show with Sonic Youth, although we were playing the graveyard slot which meant that we were to play after them. They played a crazy, super-long set and almost everyone had left as it was past 2 am, but of the 10 or 12 people still there, Gerard Cosloy from Matador [Records] had stayed. He offered us a deal that night.Inch Decades after it's initial , it's impossible to deny or underestimate the musical evolution of the 90's without including Unsane. Combining abrasive noise-rock with corrosive and powerful distorted vocals, furious pulsations of bass and drums, Unsane had broken down the doors of noise-rock for the 90's. Improvised Munitions is the unreleased first Unsane album originally slated to be released in 1989 by Circuit Records. Following the band's approval of the test pressings, Circuit folded. A huge letdown at the time, Unsane managed to use a couple of tracks for singles and re-recorded some of the tracks to put on the first full length for Matador. Years went by when a rumor that someone actually had a copy of the test pressing. Unsane were able to copy and remaster it, and have included 4 tracks of the earliest Unsane material that Chris Spencer used to go around to clubs like CBGB's, ABC No Rio and the Pyramid to try to get shows before they had a record out. Spencer states Inchfor what it's worth, this is the very beginning of the band Unsane...Inch 11 tracks featuring the 7 songs from original concept of InchImprovised MunitionsInch and 4 songs from a cassette demo. Additionally, the slide's for original artwork for InchImprovised MunitionsInch created by original Unsane bassist Pete Shore and photographer Jens Jurgensen (also member of Boss Hog) has also been found, thus the fully original concept of this album has finally come to fruition.

Three CD collection. Notwithstanding one or two isolated exceptions, it wasn't until the mid-'60s that independent female voices really began to be heard within the music industry. Over the course of four hours and sixty tracks, Milk Of The Tree focuses on the music made in the late '60s and early '70s in both Britain and North America by either female solo artists or acts with featured female vocalists. Along the way, we encounter San Franciscan psychedelia, LA folk rock, Swinging London pop-folk, electric folk, progressive folk and even folk club folk as well as (of course) a plethora of singer- songwriters (including Various ladies of the Canyon) from the movement's golden age. As well as featuring most of the leading figures from both sides of the Atlantic, Milk Of The Tree includes many performers who received little attention at the time but who now have a cult reputation amongst collectors. A significant number of tracks were unreleased at the time, while the set also includes the first-ever appearance by pioneering female rock duo Emily Muff, two American girls who were based in England during the period in question but failed to land a recording contract. With a 44-page booklet crammed with rare photos and details of the Various acts featured, the clambox-housed Milk Of The Tree is not only a fascinating social document but, we hope, a hugely entertaining snapshot of a particular time, place and frame of mind that produced some enduring, spellbinding music.
