About this product
?This recording brings to it's conclusion the 30th anniversary season of the Cypres tag. In an allusion to Confidentes, the first in this collection, featuring a duet of talented sisters - Marie and Sophie Hallynck - who have had a long history with our tag, there is also a sisterly reference here with Tatiana and Anna Sam(o)uil who realise their dream of recording together. They invite us into their world of enchantment, Il Mondo Felice, with a programme that brings together voice, violin and chamber orchestra around the exceptional artiste Maria Malibran. A desire to transmit in music the history of the glamorous couple Maria Malibran and Charles de Bériot, it's intensity and the exceptional quality of their art. The lesser-known repertoire that Maria Malibran sang, such as the masters of past centuries like Johann Sebastian Bach or Henry Purcell, is performed alongside Italian opera, which is represented on this recording by the Ave Maria from Mascagni and Verdi, which, although later, were chosen for their homage to Marie, in whose honour the singer was baptised. Mendelssohn composed his concert aria Infelice for the musical lovers. They conclude this CD with Morgen by Strauss.

First performed at the Brussels court during Lent 1706, this second oratorio by Pietro Torri is the oldest to have been given in the capital of the former Spanish Netherlands, and for which a score survives. Sung by the leading artists of the time - the very same who went on to participate in the first performances of the early Handel operas - it played a decisive role in the dissemination of Roman oratorio in northern Europe. Torri, who had a lifelong attachment to the court of the Electors of Bavaria, left behind the most substantial corpus of oratorios - both in French and in Italian - before Handel, whom La Vanità del mondo anticipates by the beauty of it's arias and it's dramatic power. This recording was performed at Festival International de Musiques Sacrées in Fribourg (Switzerland, 1988) by the prestigious ensemble Musica Antiqua Köln, conducted by Reinhard Goebel, and brilliant soloists.

Cellist Mikayel Hakhnazaryan, of the Kuss Quartet, delivers a very personal musical exploration of the emotions of a musician, away from their homeland, discovering new worlds, and searching for their inner voice and inner world. InchWhen you leave your homeland, you leave behind something very important that is hard to describe in words. It is that light and air which you unconsciously love, it is the smell of spring, the kindness of people under whose warm gaze you flourish and of course, the sounds of music. How lucky we musicians are to be able to collect all these precious things into one whole - into music, into melodies that are always with us in our head and heart; melodies that belong to us all, that we can reproduce and relive at any time. By leaving one country you give yourself the chance to discover another world, where new motifs and colors accompany you like a guide, in the search for your own voice and your own inner world. This recording is an illustration of my musical journey, during which I meet friends old and new with equal joy.Inch
