Van Stiefel - Solaris - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Noah Max - born into a musical family in London in 1998 - has already carved out an impressive career as a composer and conductor; he is also an accomplished painter and a poet. For someone so young, the surprise of this debut album is the sense of loss unifying these pieces. The feeling of innocence forgone is characteristic of the music of many English composers in the first half of the twentieth century, Elgar, Finzi, Howells and Vaughan Williams among them. Max's music is clearly of it's own time, but it shares the elegiac lyricism of those earlier masters. Album Tracks 1. Songs of Loneliness Sonatine for Cello and Piano (2019-20) 2. Constellations for Solo Clarinet (2018-19) 3. Sunset Sketches Three Sonnets for Solo Piano (2020) 4. Sojourn (In Memoriam Melanie Daiken) for String Trio (2017) 5. It Comes in Waves (In Memoriam Alex Ross) for Solo Piano (2018-2019) 6. Cornucopia Three Bagatelles for Solo Oboe (2020) 7. Vignette for Piano Trio (2018-19)

Composer and guitarist Van Steifel's InchSpiritsInch is his unique take on the studio-instrumental albums of layered guitar by legends like Les Paul, Chet Atkins, and Glen Campbell, filtered through his own introspective and personally spiritual way. Those albums were often a series of vignettes, each tune suggesting a particular location, mood, or flavor. This album turns that form into something akin to journal entries that hint at secrets, idiosyncrasies, and personal rituals. Van Stiefel has collaborated with many leading guitarists including Sergio Sorrentino, Benjamin Verdery, Eliot Fisk, Daniel Lippel, Bryce Dessner, Steve Mackey, and the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet. InchBeyond space and time, deceiving in it's simplicityInch (BigThink) his music for guitar has synthesized classical forms and techniques with electric guitar, digital, and interactive technologies.

Elena Càsoli writes of her new on Stradivarius InchThis recording is the opportunity to collect, for the first time on a single album, most of the works for and with the guitar by Fausto Romitelli. I feel really gladsome about the possibility to think up and elaborate this with Stradivarius. For me, it represents the desire to crown my passionate work of years on his music. These are compositions full of strength and inspiration, with a sound that is vibrante e luminoso!, as Fausto writes on the fifth page of the Solare score. I have invited Teresa Hackel and Virginia Arancio to collaborate because of their bravura and their connection the works interpreted.Inch Album Tracks 1. Solare 2. La Lune Et Les Eaux 3. Seascape 4. Coralli 5. Simmetria D'oggetti 6. Highway to Hell 7. Trash TV Trance
