About this product

Every year, in partnership with the Musée d'Orsay, Royaumont Abbey welcomes duos of young singers and pianists who have come to study art song and Lied. In this very unusual year when working as an artist has been made particularly difficult, the Abbey has also become a refuge. Once again, the B Records tag has come over to lend an attentive ear, producing an album with a programme brimming with great classics and new discoveries. Duos on this include Mikhail Timoshenko and Elitza Desseva, Kaelig Boche and Elenora Pertz, Axelle Fanyo and Adriano Spampanato, and Grace Durham and Edward Liddall.

Various Artists - Si J'ai Aime - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Sandrine Piau's first recital for the ALPHA tag, with Susan Manoff, proved an enormous hit (Diapason d'Or of the year, Choc of the year, and Gramophone Editor's Choice). Her new project is a recital with orchestra celebrating French songs from the period when they moved from the private salon to the concert hall. Planned in partnership with the Palazzetto Bru Zane, this programme evokes anticipation, desire, pleasure, memory, in short all the vagaries of love experienced by a romantic heroine. To verses of the poets Hugo, Lamartine, Gautier, and Verlaine, Sandrine Piau has selected song settings by Saint-Saëns ('L'attente', 'Papillons'), Massenet ('Extase', 'Aimons-nous'), and Vierne, as well as by the rarely-heard Dubois, Guilmant, and Bordes. Julien Chauvin and his period instrument ensemble combine these songs with orchestral pieces (the 'Pavane de la belle au bois dormant' from Ravel's Mother Goose Suite, and Debussy's 'Danse profane' for harp and orchestra). The album also presents excerpts from Nuits d'Été by Berlioz, and ends with the famous classic 'Plaisir d'amour' by Martini.

This Is Lorelei - Holo Boy - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Nate Amos has always charted his own path. Whether it's the candid charm of This Is Lorelei or the idiosyncratic chic of Water From Your Eyes, the New York City-based singer-songwriter has a knack for contorting the familiar into something new. But guitar pop isn't the only thing he's refashioned in his own image. After the breakout indie success of Box for Buddy, Box for Star, his quasi-debut album as This Is Lorelei, Amos rethought the typical album altogether. The result is This Is Lorelei's sort-of-second sort-of-album, Holo Boy-neither a retrospective compilation, nor a traditionally new LP, but an undeniable reaffirmation of Amos' past and present talents.Heartening, tuneful, and playful as ever, Holo Boy's songs were sourced from This Is Lorelei's sprawling back catalog and re-recorded in May 2025. With more ears on his work now, Amos was excited by the idea of a that would encourage new fans to delve deeper into his discography and allow him to revisit past songs of personal significance. It's mellifluous acoustic strums and breezy, thrumming electric guitar lines exude a summery, carefree glow and anchor a rather ambitious tracklist. Holo Boy features 10 re-recorded versions of songs written from 2014 to 2021, collected from nine different This Is Lorelei releases. With hundreds of tracks to choose from, Amos elected not to treat this LP as a best-of, or to spend hours listening back, but instead to pick interesting songs from a long span that are special to him. The album was sequenced intentionally and conceptualized as it's own distinct work, but it was recorded quickly and instinctively to honor the straight-to-Bandcamp spirit of the original songs and to have an accurate document of This Is Lorelei in 2025. Album Tracks 1. I Can't Fall 2. But You Just Woke Me Up 3. Dreams Away 4. SF & GG 5. My Friend 2 6. Name the Band 7. This I

Various Artists - L'aimable Une Journee Avec L - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

'But what are we going to do with all these pleasures?' A question sung tête-à-tête by the Princess and the Prince in Jacques Demy's film Peau d'âne (Donkey Skin), and a more bothersome question for harpsichordists drawn to the age of Louis XV. What to do with all the pleasures that the composers of the time distributed so extravagantly, how to live today in this 'kingdom of the pleasant'? The usual option is to stick to the most perfectionist of these masters (Couperin), the most ambitious (Rameau) or the most adventurous (Forqueray) in programs focusing on one of them at time. But that means setting aside a whole swathe of the repertory, which Céline Frisch here restores to the limelight, following an original method. From Couperin's Le Réveil-matin to Corrette's Les Étoiles, she retraces a day at the court of Louis XV, making full use of the sound palette offered by an exceptional harpsichord, a replica by Andrea Restelli of an instrument by Goujon.
