About this product

Always About Love's opening track J'ay pris amours a ma devise (I have chosen love as my device) is the motto for the album with songs about longing and happiness, sadness and saying farewell. BRISK and Amaryllis Dieltiens have created a programme with music from various different styles and periods on these timeless themes. The poetry is the starting point for the various sections. The instrumental pieces are also all connected to this content, and could be listened to as instrumental poetry, as songs without words. Alongside 16th and 17th century music from England, France and Germany, the sound of more recent times should not be lacking on this album. The quartet has arranged versions by Cecil Sharp and Benjamin Britten of the English folksong O Waly Waly. InchLove is handsome, love is kindInch, but love may fade away like the morning dew. Dawn is also used as a metaphor for the beloved in Max Knigge's Ochtendbede, based on a sonnet by Jacques Perk. Hans Koolmees has written two songs about earthly and heavenly love, based on texts by the medieval mystic Hadewijch and the modern Flemish poet Eva Cox, and finally Walther Stuhlmacher has composed a wordless farewell. However different these worlds may seem, it is always all about love!

Various Artists - Great Classic Film Music 2 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Lights, Camera, Action! As SOMM Recordings says InchHooray for HollywoodInch with it's second volume of Great Classic Film Music featuring the Scottish- born maestro Iain Sutherland directing the Philharmonic Promenade Orchestra of Hilversum. The first volume of Great Film Music (Ariadne 5006) was hailed by Classic FM for Inchbringing together the finest music cinema has to offerInch and featured by John Brunning as his 'Drivetime Discovery'. This second visit to the Golden Age of Hollywood and it's unforgettable successors is taken from live and studio recordings from 1988-95 that conjure up all the drama and romance, poetry and playfulness of film music at it's most gloriously entertaining. A half century of unforgettable music is captured here, from the swashbuckling romance of Erich Wolfgang Korngold's The Sea Hawk to the sci-fi heroism of Jerry Goldsmith's Star Trek The Next Generation. Cinema icons John Williams (Back to the Future), John Barry (You Only Live Twice), Maurice Jarre (Lawrence of Arabia) and Lalo Schifrin (The Eagle Has Landed) are heard alongside the late, great Ennio Morricone's 'Gabriel's Oboe' (The Mission). Love and romance feature among the thrills and spills of Burton Lane's Finian's Rainbow, Kurt Weill's September Song, George Gershwin's Funny Face, Robert Stolz's Spring Parade and Cole Porter's sparkling songs in Evil Under the Sun. Two towering figures of the concert hall are also heard, with Elvira Madigan's sublime borrowing from Mozart's Piano Concerto No.21 and rousing and lyrical themes befitting their Shakespearean settings by William Walton from the Laurence Olivier starring and directed Richard III and Henry V. Iain Sutherland's previous SOMM releases include the Inchimpressive... fully recommendedInch (Musical Opinion) Bernstein Broadway to Hollywood (Ariadne 5002) and In London Town (SOMMCD 0117) with it's Inchsparkling perfor

Various Artists - Spot on - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Euphonium player Fabian Bloch's GENUIN begins with a Inchwham!Inch - and holds the listener in it's grip for a full hour. Jazz, classical music, pop, funk, and folk music are all poured into this electrifying musical mixture as the up-and-coming star opens up completely new repertoire for his instrument. It alternately grooves, gets intense, or is simply beautifully played. Offering brass with class, Bloch has commissioned seven works for himself and his two comrades Michael Meinen (percussion) and François Killian (piano). Among the composers are illustrious names like Daniel Schnyder and Jukka Linkola. Grand and sparkling enjoyment!

Besson Bernadini Aurelia Visovan Munckhof - Concerto Sonate Symphony - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

A pupil of Mozart, Johann Nepomuk Hummel was one of the most admired pianists of his era. His career began in Vienna at the time when Beethoven had just moved there. Like the latter, he belonged to that generation of composers whose output may be categorized somewhere between Classicism an burgeoning Romanticism. In addition to an extensive catalogue of original compositions, including piano works of high quality, Hummel also made numerous arrangements for chamber forces of orchestral compositions. Among these were the piano concertos of his teacher Mozart and the symphonies of his friend Beethoven, all of which he transcribed for piano, flute, violin and cello. The Romanian pianist Aurelia Visovan offers this particularly original programme for her album as winner of the 2019 Bruges MA Festival Competition.
