About this product

This anthology brings together the first three albums by the Oignons, an inescapable jazz group whose mission was to restore to it's former glory every vigorous ounce of the New Orleans style not by taking the old to make it something new, but by emphasizing all the avant garde power that lies behind the main style of the first era in jazz. And the band puts it's own inimitable signature to the compositions and arrangements here by adding a tap-dancer to the rhythm section the result overflows with communicative energy. This retrospective set underlines how much trumpeter and leader Julien Silvand succeeded in establishing his band as the worthy heirs to France's eminent New Orleans representatives, from Claude Luter to the Haricots Rouges and Orphéon Célesta. Various Artists - Anthologie Sonore - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This anthology devoted to the riches of French advertising provides a refresher course filled with historic sketches and popular ditties, each more delightfully dated than the next. Beginning with the first ads of the talkies - which arrived with the first bulky radio sets - and continuing up to the Sixties, these went out over the air in France's glorious post-war years, when consumerism was all the rage, and also a little drink before dinner, as you can hear in Jean-Baptiste Mersiol's collection, a kind of audio postcard sent back from another age that seems exquisitely vintage today. Album Tracks 1. C'est la Vache Qui Rit 2. Pavois 3. Roquefort Société 4. Pâtes la Lune 5. Super Gaston 6. Banania 7. En Prenant Du Café 8. Semaine Du Bon Café 9. Apéritif Bonal 10. Various Artists - Anthologie 1955-1962 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

His tenderness and humor have made Bourvil one of the most endearing characters in our heritage. After the anthology InchBourvil - 1946-1953Inch, FA5131), this second part, directed by Jean-Baptiste Mersiol, continues the musical career of the artist which marks a turning point from the year 1955. Various Artists - Anthologie Dany Doriz - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

One of his illustrious careers has been his ownership of the Caveau de la Huchette in Paris, the city's underground jazz temple and the last club in the world where jazz is for dancing. The other is that Dany Doriz is a grand master of the vibraphone and a peerless bandleader. Including many rarities items and previously unreleased sessions, this 3-album set looks back on 60 years of jazz history, and the vibes player has sailed through the decades with an indestructible sense of swing. Lionel Hampton once dubbed Doriz his Inchspiritual sonInch and, since the early 60s, Dany has pursued a playing career in an incredible groove that has featured the likes of Stéphane Grappelli, Hampton or Claude Bolling, Rhoda Scott and Sacha Distel, not to mention Memphis Slim, Manu Dibango or Marcel Azzola Album Tracks 1.
