Various Artists - Cajun Louisiane 1928-1939 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

It took decades for the music of our distant InchFrenchInch cousins - long hidden away in the bayous of southern Louisiana - to finally leave it's home. It aroused interest with some of the curious and then conquered the USA. Joyful or nostalgic, convivial and given rhythm by accordions, these tunes seduced music-lovers worldwide, and today the music is recognized as part of the world's heritage. The highly colorful saga of Cajun is told here by Jean Buzelin, who selected the best recordings of the period.

Two CD set. Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn's first four albums together for Decca Records, dating from 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1974. 'Louisiana Woman-Mississippi Man' and 'Country Partners' were both US Country No. 1 albums. 'After The Fire Is Gone', 'As Soon As I Hang Up The Phone', 'Lead Me On' and 'Louisiana Woman-Mississippi Man' were all US Country No. 1 singles. Both artists had long and fruitful solo careers, winning awards and accolades too numerous to mention here. Digitally remastered, slipcased and with new notes.

Angel Station was not only one of the Earth Band's major successes, but also stands out thanks to it's modern production under the direction of Anthony Moore, who opted for a very stripped-down sound. The album cover was heavily influenced by the artist M. C. Escher. You Are - I Am was later sampled by Kanye West for his track So Appalled on the album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.Manfred Mann returned the compliment by recording a cover version of Kanye West's reinterpretation on his current album.
