It's that special time of year once again, and what better way to celebrate the festival period than with another round of Doo Wop at Christmas via Koko Mojo's 'It's Doo Wop Christmas Time'. There is just something deeply satisfying when hearing the golden tones of harmony groups huddled closely together and perfecting a balancing act of high and deep tones set to a backing of traditional rhythm and blues and, under such circumstances, the occasional sleigh bell in the background for comfort. With added Inchsnap, crackle, and popInch, the listener is transported back to a golden age of music, and a reminder of when Christmas felt like the real deal with 'It's Doo Wop Christmas Time'. The records are brought to life once more with Volume 3 deep in riches where familiar names rub shoulder to shoulder with numerous obscurities, and thus maintain the album series tradition. Sourcing material from the early 50s and up to the dawn of the 60s, 'It's Doo Wop Christmas Time' highlights much talent and offers an album that is reflective as it is celebratory, it has it all! For proof, Doo-Wop delights nestling between the presents under the Christmas tree include The G-Clefs, The Orioles, Emile Ford & The Checkmates, and The Ravens, to genuine curiosities Lonnie & The Crisis, George Castelle, Shantons, and Dippers Quintet, and that only temporarily wipes the snow from the surface here! Knitted together and better than any festive jumper are the thirty tracks chosen for 'It's Doo Wop Christmas Time' which, given it has reached it's third volume, displays the high regard warranted to it by aficionados of the genre, in addition to casual passers-by looking for a fix of Doo-Wop Christmas cheer!
