About this product
A killer little set that's as heavy as it sounds from the title - a wealth of rare material pulled from the studio of Detroit producer Dave Hamilton - a good deal of it previously unreleased! Hearing this set is like finding a pile of rare 45s stuffed in the back corner of a long-lost record shop - because although much of the work was never issued, it crackles with the intensity of the best funky 45s - lots of funky drums, offbeat guitar, and raspy soul vocals - produced with a real edge to all the work, so that all of the hardest elements of the tunes really come through in the mix! The work that was issued here came out on the TCB, Tayster, and New Day labels - and although the artists are often not well known, the work's got a really unified feel - thanks to the funky vision of Dave Hamilton. CD features 20 tracks in all - including InchBrand New Girl (part 1)Inch, InchYou're Wasting My Time (parts 1 & 2)Inch, and InchI Got Some (parts 1 & 2)Inch by Billy Garner; InchThe Grown Folks ThingInch by OC Tolbert, InchParty TimeInch by James Carpenter, InchGoing to the MoonInch by Dave Hamilton, InchFunky TripInch by Johnny Walker, InchThe Devil Is Gonna Get YouInch by the Future Kind, InchJust a MistakeInch by the Barrino Brothers, InchHunchinInch by Gip Roberts, InchBump with MeInch by the Webb People, InchSweet Thing (part 1)Inch by Bobby Dee, and InchCan You Dig ItInch by Chico & Buddy.

UK compilation of vintage tracks overseen by legendary Detroit Soul producer Dave Hamilton. Though there are several great up tempo tracks on this CD, we have changed the title from Dancers to Soul as this isn't solely Northern Soul - there are ballads, Funk and other sides of Dave's production work evident. Three tracks by Harry Reid, Charmaine and Frenchy & the Chessmen from Dave's first tag Temple show off his earliest productions. The last Topper tag sides to be reissued are Priscilla Page's quaint 'Sho Be Doo Be' and the 45 remix of her 'I'm Pretending'. from a slightly later period comes the 45 version of JT Rhythm's 'My Sweet Baby' which is quite different from the master tape we have already issued. Kent Records.

2020 . Sam Prekop's boundless imagination is guided by his strong sense of melody. For more than 25 years, as a solo artist or as part of The Sea and Cake, Prekop creates a singular sound that is both inventive and warm. New album Comma takes Pekop's electronic music experiments in a surprising new direction. Working extensively with beat programming for the first time, Prekop uses rhythm as a narrative tool, tapping into electronic music's romantic and emotional qualities. Comma embraces the analogue synthesizer's often unpredictable nature, imbuing the record with a decidedly organic feel even while working within the relative rigidity of beat architectures.

Ahhhh-the ideal Lindy Hop compilation. My walls are lined with towering shelves of swing music, but I have yet to find a single CD full of my favorite Lindy Hop songs. In my many years of DJing, I pay close attention to what excites dancers. Lindy Hoppers might not know the names on this CD Jay McShann, Clark Terry, Junior Mance and Al Grey. But, their music always fills the dance floor and my ideal compilation would feature them all. I am thrilled that CHIAROSCURO has taken the initiative to consult dancers, compile the music of amazing artists, and present a collection specifically designed for your dancing pleasure.
