About this product
This compilation traces the genre's early days in the recording studio. It includes a reissue of the Victor Talking Machine Company's first piano ragtime disc in 1916, as well as several performances of English ragtime. These sides portray the piano in an era when recording technology struggled to capture the instrument's full range.

This collection of works spans more than fifty years of Krzysztof Penderecki's stellar career, from the iconic Threnody, a great sonic wail dedicated to the victims of Hiroshima, to the Adagio for Strings, lovingly adapted from his Symphony No.3. Soloist Radovan Vlatkovic offers a superb performance of the Horn Concerto (which was composed for him) and Barnabás Kelemen revels in the ferocity of the Violin Concerto No.1.
