2019 . Have you ever felt sad about the times? This music resonates with your own life experiences that made you feel sad and alone. The artists here deal with difficult emotions. The songs come in the wake of the 60's after idealism ran it's course and artists were ascendant. Reality strikes. You have to deal with yourself, friends, lovers. You may not work it out but these songs keep you company. Amidst echoes of folk & soft rock the atmosphere is dominated by the human being whose voice you hear. Yours

This 1970 records the shape note singing convention in Houston, Mississippi. As is the tradition with shape note signing, songs are first sung using notes Inchfa-so-la-mi,Inch then with lyrics. Each voice part is equally balanced, consequently submerging the tune because all parts (except bass) are sung by both men and women. Liner notes compiled by Amelia Ramsey include a history of shape note singing and background on each song. An illustrated essay by Frederic Ramsey Jr.. provides more information on the Mississippi community.
